The Combined Operation and Rotation Exercise – CORE 23 is a joint military exercise between the Brazilian Army and the United States Army, scheduled to take place from October 29 to November 20. This exercise will be conducted in the garrisons of Belém, Macapá, Oiapoque, and the district of Clevelândia do Norte.
Objectives of CORE 23
CORE 23 aims to achieve three primary objectives:
- Enhancing Troop Operational Capacity: The exercise provides an opportunity for troops from both countries to improve their skills and operational capabilities through joint training and realistic combat simulations.
- Maintaining Historical Bonds of Friendship: The activity strengthens the historical bonds of friendship between Brazil and the United States, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.
- Military Integration and Cooperation: The exercise also seeks to enhance integration and cooperation between the two armies, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
Participation and Historical Context
CORE 23 is the result of a cooperation program signed between Brazil and the United States, which stipulates the execution of annual bilateral combined exercises until 2028. This year’s exercise will involve 1,200 Brazilian soldiers and about 300 United States soldiers.
This ongoing cooperation initiative not only reinforces the preparedness and readiness of the troops but also promotes better coordination and teamwork between the armed forces of both countries.
The implementation of CORE 23 in various strategic garrisons in the northern region of Brazil highlights the geopolitical importance and the need for a well-prepared and integrated military presence to address regional and global security challenges.
