The song, never before shown to the public, was released after 7 years without releases of the singer. The single will be part of the romantic comedy “Last Christmas,” a movie distributed by Universal Pictures. The feature film is inspired by the songs of George Michael and Wham !, the famous British pop duo of the 80’s, formed by him and Andrew Ridgeley.
The film’s soundtrack will be available next Friday (8th) on all digital platforms, and will also get a physical version on CD. The English title of the plot is named after the Wham! Song, released 35 years ago. All songs were arranged and produced by the British except “This Is How (We Want You To Get High)”, which was co-written and co-produced by George Michael and James Jackman.
The unreleased single began work in early 2012. The track was later developed in sessions at Air Studios in London before the final touches were added in 2015 during George’s final recordings.
The British musical trajectory is extensive and successful. Born in 1963, George Michael joined his friend Andrew Ridgeley in 1982 to create Wham !. The duo popularized songs such as “Careless Whisper”, “Last Christmas” and “Everything She Wants”. Four years later, the duo broke up and George began his solo career and released his first album in 1987. Among the best known hits are “Freedom ’90”, “One More Try” and “Father Figure”.
In his nearly 4 decades of career, he has sold millions of albums, won numerous awards, including 2 Grammys, and gained fans around the world. Considered one of the great names of British music, he performed at the Maracanã stage in 1991 for the second edition of Rock in Rio. This was the only time the singer landed in Brazil for a performance. In 2016, at age 53, he died in England from heart failure.
